This Labor Day, we stand at one of the better parts of our time in Labor History; policies are being put in place that will create more union jobs.
With our Local and State Building Trades, we have been able to get Local and Citywide PLA’s, (Project Labor Agreements) which means Union Contractors and more union jobs for our members. We also have a very favorable Presidential Administration that supports PLAs and Organized Labor. These PLAs will resort to increased membership for our Local unions.
Project Labor Agreements will allow our membership to grow with requirements to hire Union Journeyman, and Apprentices. Our Training facilities are the best in the Country. They will turn out to be very well-prepared Journeyman Bricklayers, Tile Setters, Marble Masons, and Pointer Cleaner Caulkers for today’s construction needs.
We have a big election cycle coming up this Fall (November 5th). Make sure you do your homework on the issues, and the candidates. BAC Local 3 CA will have endorsements on the website. Become familiar with the candidates and your local and state issues. This is our time right now to make a bigger Voice for Organized Labor. Get involved with your local politics, (I know most people say they do not get involved in political matters), but a little voice makes an enormous difference in your local matters.
I am a second-generation Bricklayer. My Father was a Bricklayer, my brother James is a Bricklayer. BAC local 3 has given me the ability to provide a Home, Healthcare, and Retirement for my Family. The best part of me being a member of Local# 3 CA are the members; we have the hardest working people in the business.
