From the Desk of Dave Tafoya,

Greetings Brothers and Sisters, on May 10th BAC Local 3 assisted the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 16 with a picket against Knights Flooring Inc. at Napa City College. The picket was successful, and I would like to thank the Local 3 members that attended. I would also like to thank DC 16 Organizer Martin Garcia and other DC16 Organizers for the invitation. We stood in Solidarity to send the message that Knights Flooring Inc is a dishonest contractor.

Changing gears to the San Joaquin Valley, we have multiple projects that are putting BAC Local 3 members to work. The River Islands High School is a huge project that is bound to a Project Labor Agreement. Our members have laid the block and installed the thin brick. Now, the tile scope is under way at River Islands High School. Stoney Masonry is moving along at the French Camp Jail with bricklayers laying block and National Ceramic Tile and Stone is awaiting the start of the Tile and Stone scope for the Modesto Courthouse.

In closing, the Pacific Northwest will host local BAC apprentices from the thirteen states in the West Region for the Western States Apprenticeship Contest. The contest takes place in Seattle and BAC Local 3 will have eight apprentices compete. Members of our staff will take part in the contests as judges: David Calderon (PCC), Manny Enriquez (Brick), and myself (Tile). Best of luck to everyone!

In Solidarity,

Dave Tafoya
